Signs and Survival

Now Unlimited secured funding from Awards for All to develop a programme that used a mindfulness-based approach to support young people’s social and emotional development.

The project involved recruiting young people, a 6 week course that aimed to increase young people’s awareness of emotional resilience, research undertaken by young people into the causes and effects of young people’s stress, team building activities which included Laser Quest and working with horses, young people working with a rap artist, a web designer, an illustrator, a script write and a photographer¬†to develop resources that are designed to raise young people’s awareness of stress and stress management. Outputs from the project include this website, a rap and a resource pack for workers. Involvement in the project also provided an opportunity for the young people to demonstrate skills valued by employers.

Two of the young people have secured employment, one is now a full-time youth work volunteer, one is now studying at the local FE college and the rest ( except one who is unwell) are continuing their studies.
